Carpigiani UK turned to us to produce an elegant product brochure that married a premium look with an easy to navigate design.
World leaders in the manufacture of gelato, ice cream and pastry equipment, Carpigiani UK required a brochure that reflected the premium and innovative nature of their brand. Looking to distribute the new brochure at one of the foodservice industry’s largest events, but also wanting to utilise it as an ongoing sales tool, Carpigiani tasked us with combining an elegant look with a design that was easy to navigate.
Carpigiani wanted to retain their bold, minimalist branding throughout the brochure. They were also keen to pack in as much information into the layout as possible, without overcrowding the pages.
We developed a series of page templates that would create consistency throughout the design, whilst also enabling us the flexibility to expand or condense sections as required. For each of Carpigiani’s product categories we designed an introduction page, a selection of product layouts, a ‘profit story’ page to indicate the value of using their equipment, and a case study template which would feature customer testimonials and on-site photography.
We also decided to utilise tabs throughout the brochure to aid in navigating to the different product categories. As part of this process we had to work around the needed space, whilst also designing for the tabs to ensure they were easy to see and read.
Meanwhile, we organised a selection of case studies with our photographer to get a range of the key products photographed in situ, which would be used in other media as well as throughout the brochure. At this stage we also liaised with our chosen print-house. Along with the basics like paper stock, thickness and binding method, special finishes like a spot varnish and matt, soft touch finish were decided on to further the premium look and feel Carpigiani wanted.
Finally, the brochure was populated over a period of weeks, with product sections scheduled to be completed as photography and written content was finalised and approved. Refinements to the design were made after population, each page was proof-read for accuracy and finally the artwork was prepared for print and exported.
With the artwork in the capable hands of our printers, our job was done. After a short, eager wait the brochures were delivered and both ourselves and, most importantly, the team at Carpigiani were thrilled with the final result. Achieving both the premium look and easy to navigate design that Carpigiani wanted, the brochure more than met the criteria and looked fantastic on display.
