2022 celebrates Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, making her the first British Monarch to celebrate seventy years of service. With a special Platinum Jubilee Central weekend taking place from the 2nd to 5th June, what better occasion to get together and enjoy some scrummy food with some top picks from our Jubilee Guide.

Whether it be a street party, garden party, picnic in the park or a big friendly BBQ, there are many opportunities to serve up some traditional and not so traditional treats.  Supermarkets are already getting ready for the celebratory weekend, and they are certainly getting our taste-buds tingling!

First up is Morrisons who have created a super cute Corgi Cake which we are just obsessed with! Coming in at £6, this cake is an absolute must-have at any celebratory party or event. Taking inspiration from the classic caterpillar cakes and sausage dog cake, the corgi cake is the cutest way to represent the Queen’s beloved companions.

Named after Clarence Court… Clarence the Corgi is made from a delicious chocolate Swiss roll, coated in milk chocolate, patriotic sprinkles and finished with a face cute enough to eat.

Designed to serve 12, this is a treat big enough to share, but we can assure you that it won’t be around on any table for long! You can get your hands on Clarence the Corgi from the 21st of May 2022 in Morrison stores; I know that I will be lining up to grab one.

Next up is the Treat Tote Bag from Marks and Spencer. Filled with a whole selection of goodies, this is the perfect present to give to a loved one, or simply to enjoy with the family at home. Within the tote bag you will find a range of biscuits, cakes, chocolate and drinks, including the long-awaited Jubilee Connie the Caterpillars.

The strawberry and elderflower pressé is delicious on its own, or you can make it into a jubilee inspired cocktail by adding gin, mint leaves and some ice.

The tote bag comes in at a total of £30 which is a fairly high price, however after some internal debates, I concluded that I would probably be prepared to spend any amount of money just to get my hands on the limited-edition Connie the Caterpillars.

Speaking of gin, The Cotswolds Distillery have released a special edition gin in celebration of the Jubilee.  With strawberry, raspberry and pink pepper flavours, this gin is the perfect tipple to enjoy with a classic tonic, or when transformed into a summer cocktail. I know that I will be adding a good measure of this to my Pimms over the bank holiday! This limited-edition gin is available to buy from their online store for £34.95.

Jubilee Cocktail

50ml Gin (remove if making for little ones)

50ml of cloudy apple juice (If making for little ones double this)

Handful of fresh mint (clap in palms to release oils)

Handful of strawberries – cut into quarters

Ice

Cloudy lemonade to top

1. Get your highball glass and place your strawberries and mint and muddle in the bottom.

2. Add ice and gin (leave out if making for little ones) then pop in your apple juice.

3. Top up with cloudy lemonade and add mint as decoration.

4. Sit back and enjoy!

No matter how you are deciding to spend your bank holiday make sure that it is filled with friends, family and good food.
